Most small business owners have a bookkeeper. Very few have someone who can tell them why they're profitable on paper but broke in the bank, and fix it. That's what I do.
100% Job Success ·Bookkeepers record what happened. I tell you what it means, what's coming, and what to do about it. With 12+ years running finance for founder-led businesses across India and Singapore, including full P&L ownership, multi-entity reporting, and loan-ready financials, I bring CFO-level thinking at a fraction of the cost.
Saurabh will make your life and accounting headaches easier! I had no capacity for tax preparation or calculating and problem solving for taxes. It was my home service business' first year to file taxes. It was so helpful to have him managing the tasks, to-dos, and even keeping me on track. I have had several bookkeeping freelancers ghost me, even from Upwork! Was a pleasure to work with Saurabh, and very grateful and appreciative of your availability, timeliness, responsiveness, and would love to work with him again for any bookkeeping and accounting needs!
I hired Saurabh to clean up my QuickBooks Online and help with tax filing for my ecommerce business. He delivered on both and then some. The QBO cleanup was meticulous, he worked through multicurrency transactions and categorization issues that had been piling up for months, and handed back a set of books I could actually use. On the tax side, he handled my business income and all the supporting forms, and was patient in walking me through what everything meant. He clearly knows this work, he anticipated issues before I raised them. He's now handling my ongoing bookkeeping, and I have no complaints. Consistent, reliable, no hand-holding required. Highly recommend for anyone needing hands-on QBO work or ecommerce bookkeeping and tax support.
I worked with Saurabh to manage the financials for my F&B business in Wellington, NZ, and the experience was fantastic. He managed our day-to-day accounting, provided invaluable weekly performance insights, and handled all the back-and-forth with my tax advisor for our tax returns. It was a massive relief to know the financial side of my business was in such capable hands. Highly recommended for any business owner seeking reliable, proactive financial support.
I'm a Mumbai-based finance operator with 12+ years running the full finance function for founder-led businesses. I've owned everything from day-to-day bookkeeping to board-level reporting, across India and Singapore, simultaneously managing HR and compliance with zero penalties. I work with US, Australian, and Canadian small businesses remotely, at 40 to 50% the cost of a local hire, with none of the hand-holding.
When I'm not in the books, I'm brewing V60 coffee and riding long distances on my bike. Both require patience and attention to detail, which is probably why I like finance.
Every tool I use is one I've actually worked in, not just listed.
Yes, fully. I work with clients in the US, Australia, UK, and Canada regularly. Whether you prefer live calls during your business hours or async communication where I work while you sleep and deliver by your morning, I adapt to whatever works best for you. Time zones have never been a barrier for any of my clients.
It depends on the work. For bookkeeping and controller work, I work across QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zoho Books, Wave, and FreshBooks. If you do not have a tool yet, I will help you choose the right one for your business size and set it up from scratch. For FP&A and projections work, I build models in Excel and Google Sheets, so no specialist software is needed on your end.
A bookkeeper records what happened: transactions categorized, accounts reconciled, reports generated. A fractional controller goes further: building the processes, analyzing those reports, identifying what the numbers mean for your business, and giving you actionable insights. If you are just starting out or need clean books, start with bookkeeping. If you are growing, making hiring decisions, or need someone who can tell you why your cash keeps disappearing, you need a controller.
After you sign on, here is what happens in the first week: Day 1, we have a 30-minute kickoff call where I learn your business structure, current tools, and priorities. Days 2 and 3, I get read-only access to your books and do a diagnostic review, identifying gaps, errors, and anything that needs immediate attention. By Day 5, I send you a plain-English summary of what I found and a 30-day action plan. From there we move into the regular working rhythm, whether that is weekly check-ins, monthly close, or async updates, whatever fits your workflow.
Both, and I will recommend whichever fits your situation better. For one-off projects like a books cleanup, a financial model, or a loan package, hourly works well so you only pay for what you need. For ongoing work like monthly bookkeeping or fractional controller services, a fixed monthly retainer gives you predictability and usually works out more cost-effectively. We discuss this on the discovery call and I will be upfront about what makes sense for your specific needs.
